Cleaning the card feed rollers and heat roller
The heat roller provides the heat used during the retransfer process. The card
feed rollers move the card inside the printer. See “Printer roller layout” on
page 71 to find the location of the rollers.
1 Clean the cleaning unit. See “Cleaning the cleaning unit” on page 62.
2 Clean the Card Load Roller. See “Card load roller” on page 62.
3 Begin with the printer (and optional laminator) powered off.
4 Move the LM200/LM300 laminator (if installed) away from the printer to
avoid a card jam during the cleaning process.
5 Slide the door latch to the right and open the printer door.
6 Press the retransfer film cartridge eject button and remove the
retransfer film cartridge. If the laminator is installed, remove the
laminator film cartridges.
7 Close the printer door.
8 Remove the card hopper. See “Remove Hopper and Cards” on
page 9.
9 Power on the printer. See “Power on the printer” on page 16.
10 The "Film search A1" message is displayed on the
LCD display.
11 Remove the protective paper from a cleaning card.
12 Press the Menu key, "Cleaning" is displayed.
13 Press the Enter key.
14 "Rollers OK?" is displayed. Press the Return key.
15 “Film checking” is displayed, followed by
“Cleaning Start OK?” Press the Return
key.
16 Insert the cleaning card into the card slot
located on the right side of the printer
within 20 seconds. The card will be
drawn into the printer by the rollers and
cleaning will begin.
17 The card is discharged and “Cleaning
Start OK?” is displayed. Press the
Return key, turn the card over, and
insert it again to complete the cleaning
process.
18 Press Exit to end the cleaning process.
19 When the cleaning card is discharged,
power off the printer, wait ten seconds,
reinstall the retransfer film cartridge,
card hopper and laminator film cartridges, and power back on.
Tips – Cleaning card feed
and heat rollers
• The heat roller cannot be
cleaned while hot. Power
the printer off and allow it
to cool, or perform
cleaning before the heat
roller reaches operating
temperature.
• Clean the card feed
rollers and heat roller
every 1,000 printed
cards.
• Use the cleaning card
one time only. Using a
dirty cleaning card can
cause damage to the
rollers.
• For best results when
using a laminator with
the printer, separate
them. See “Cleaning the
laminator” on page 67.
